Necromunda

My club, the Newcastle Legion, is having a resurgence of interest in Necromunda. I tried to find my old figures, but all I could locate was my Scum and Bounty Hunter. I think they've held up OK after almost 20 years.

I did find some old pictures of my Delaque and Ratskin gangs- bound to stir up a bit of nostalgia amongst those of a certain age. I know I sold the Delaque, but I thought I had the Ratskins somewhere, as well as the plastic Goliaths and Orlocks. No luck so far in finding them, but if I do then I'll post some decent pictures.

Almost every figure has been converted

They don't make 'em like this anymore.

  1. Definitely a nostalgia-stirrer. Necromunda was actually my introduction to skirmish-level wargaming. (I'd only played Battletech prior to that.) My main gang was the Redemptionists, but I always wanted to get some Delaques but never did. Thanks for sharing these!

    1. Shotguns and flamers and fanatics- the perfect combo for Necromunda!

  2. Don't know much about Necromunda but I am very impressed with the paint job on your minis. It's always interesting to look at our older work and see how we have progressed. Well Done!

    1. Thanks, Col! I certainly had more time back in the day- now, all that war gear puts me off!

  3. Ah, very cool. I loved the Necromunda rules, and the story behind the game, but I never could get anyone to run with it 'back in the day'. Nice paint jobs too.

    1. Cheers, Raptor! It's a shame you couldn't find opponents, it was quite a fun setting.

    1. Hired guns! I'd forgotten that's what they were called, thanks for reminding me!

  5. Excellent stuff, even though older paint-work; cool bases too. I love Necromunda, both in the depth of the setting, & the actual game. I've always preferred it to how Warhammer 40,000 has evolved.

  6. I think out of all the gang's Delaque had the best heavy weapon mini... the one with the heavy stubber.

Like the freehand coke can on the first dude too, nice touch.

I also see that you were a bit of a tinkerer back in the day to, I've had that bug for as long as I can remember. Converting can be a very rewarding experience.

    Cheers.

    1. Converting is fun, but can be frustrating, and takes far too much time...

  7. Its fun to see those veteran models, it would be a shame to repaint them or anything after the things that they have seen (not that need a repaint anyway).

The Necromunda range is great really. I have started to paint and stripped that Bounty Hunter model a few times. Im going to have to tackle him properly one of these days. Him and Karloth Valois.

I never picked up the Scum models, like that large gent with the plasma pistol shown. I have been keeping half an eye out for them for a few years now.

Mechanically its not the game for me these days, but the background is really great. I did have lots of fun with it back in the nineties. I hope that you get some laughs out of it again (and take some photos of the games),

    1. Actually, I'd prefer to sell them off. Like you, I loved the background but the mechanics and campaign rules showed their flaws pretty quickly.

    2. Well I am after that big-boned Scum model myself, but it's debatable whether it's worth shipping it around the world on its lonesome. If you want to sell or trade that model then let me know, zero pressure :)
