What did I think I'd get done in the last twelve months, and what did I get done?
I've started a Last War campaign, but haven't kept momentum due to conflicting projects. I'm still able to keep this going, and will.
I have been quite pleased with Grimdark Future, from One Page Rules. It's a very simple alternative ruleset for 40K, which really lets you have a quick and fun game. It's been great to have games between painted armies on a nice table. I had ambitions for a more formal campaign, but that fell by the wayside and we've just increased our army sizes for each battle.
Due to Grimdark Future, I leaned hard into my Red Corsairs. They're detailed and take a lot of time to paint. Sticking with the one project did lead to significant progress, and also allowed a sober look at how much I actually get painted. There are rumours of a new sculpt for Huron Blackheart, and I may treat myself if true.
I got a few Lamenters done as well. I was pretty happy with my Dreadnought. I have a few more to paint up, and may get them done soon.
The Tyranid swarm keeps growing, and I must hold off getting more until I paint what I have.
The Lord of the Rings still exerts a hold.
I've been playing several boardgames, some of which will get a post on here in the future.
I've enjoyed making battle reports, and there will be more to come. I'm torn between several of the Forbidden Psalm offspring- Norse myths, weird west, and cyberpunk/ AdMech in particular. I can see that my appetite is bigger than my grasp and hard choices will need to be made.
So, the general theme this year has been painting to build collections, and trying to work out where to concentrate effort. I predict the next twelve months will be the same.
Blogger is now far from the flashiest or most popular online sites, but it works for me. Thank you all for visiting and commenting. As usual, around this time of year my anticipation builds for the Analogue Challenge- see you there!
