Glorfindel with Asfaloth

Clearer and nearer now the bells jingled, and clippety-clip came the quick running feet. Suddenly into view below came a white horse, gleaming in the shadows, running swiftly. In the dusk its headstall flickered and flashed, as if it were studded with gems like living stars. The rider's cloak streamed behind him, and his hood was thrown back, his golden hair flowed shimmering in the wind of his speed.
The Fellowship of the Ring

This was for the One Ring's June painting challenge. I'll be honest, I didn't really feel the love while painting this chap. I picked him up dirt-cheap second-hand, already assembled and sprayed black. I oversprayed white and painted greys and blues, but realised as I went that there were a lot of mold lines etc. still remaining. I painted him in a hurry (in one afternoon!) and took shortcuts, and it shows, but at least he's done. I know I get stuff finished when there's a deadline involved, and I do appreciate these One Ring opportunities.

As bought
I may patch him up later; at a minimum the dodgy base rim. I also need to paint his dismounted version.

  4. Ah, the MONSTER on a horse. Funny how he gets such a massive boost in the game. Makes him pretty cool and very nasty.

Good painting as always and yeah he does have a very grumpy look on his face. Probably the result of hanging out with Elrond so much.

    1. I think it's to do with when he kills a Balrog in the Silmarillion (or was it a different Glorfindel..?).

    2. It's perhaps only a Glorfindel of the game "The Battle for Middle-Earth"
He's missing in the movies and just appears in the books when he rescues Frodo and aids him to reach Rivendell.
In the Silmarillion, that's him who makes the prediction that Sauron "will not killed by the hand of a man" and he has killed a Balrog, right!

    3. I recall there's some controversy over whether or not it's the same elf. I'll look into it when I get around to the dismounted Glorf.

  5. For a quick paintjob, he's better looking than the one that I spent 11 hours one. And I also spent a good 25 GBP for mine :(

I've only used him in one game of WotR, but he was a monster, like mr Peter said (above).

  6. I agree with Llama: very good for a quick painting work !!

I dislike those GW horses: all the same and the poses are awful, but it's just my opinion!
