I've never been 100% happy with the X-Wing flying stand bases. I thought the clear plastic was too shiny and noticeable, so I sprayed one with GW Chaos Black- what do you think? I also used a black marker to colour in the edges of the ship card.

Paint the nubbin under the ship as well |

It actually works really well. I have black stands for my Full Thrust ships I didn't think about doing the same for X wing. I'll probably stick to clear, mainly because the shine doesn't bother me, but if it did it's good to know a black spray works. I think it will probably be important to get a spray that is very black, some undercoats are lighter.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Grigork, I think I'll do some more.
DeleteI think it looks really good.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sean!
DeleteI picked up a really nice GF9 matt yesterday (the frozen planet one if you know it) and being mostly black, as is common in space, I do think you may be on to something, I'll have to consider that myself. Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeletePS: What do you think of the HWK. I've heard opinions from both ends of the spectrum.
I'm toying with hitting it with Dullcote. The clear bases are just too shiny and obvious.
DeleteI was initially opposed to the HWK, not knowing it previously, but I'm a completist and I wanted to see some of the cards that it comes with. The ship itself has grown on me considerably.
