Leviathan 2014

WSGS
On Saturday, I briefly stuck my head in to Leviathan, the annual wargaming convention run every April by Sydney's Western Suburbs' Gaming Society. It is held at a local high school.

I didn't play any games myself, but caught up with some old friends and took some pics.
Drop Zone Commander

Seven Years Picnic from MBD

Wooden Ships and Iron Men with Langton and Skytrex

I am a sucker for a nice Infinity table

or two

or three.

A Chain of Command demo table

Halflings vs High Elves at Blood Bowl- later in the game, Deeproot scored!
There were other games going on- including 40K, Hordes, Warhammer, Flames of War, Lord of the Rings, & Bolt Action- but I didn't get photos. There were going to be games of Saga and X-Wing the next day as well.

I was unable to resist these 15mm French-Indian war figures at the second hand stall- I think they are Blue Moon- only $15!
[UPDATE- the figures are Freikorps15 and Essex]

  1. I am struck by both how an Australian high school looks like an American one, and how all wargamers seem to be the same shape. It looks like a fun even.

    1. Australian high school students wear uniforms, from popular culture I'm not sure if Americans do. But there is a stereotypical wargamer for a reason!

  2. So there is benefits of living in "SinDey" after all! I am very jealous, Barks, nothing like that up my way. Looks like it would have been a good event. Love the Napoleonic Sail.

    1. Age of sail games are always eye-catching, I find. But I did have to drive two hours to get there!

    1. As I recall the story, he blitzed an elf, triple skulls, rerolled it, smashed the elf and caught the ball on the bounce, then trundled down the pitch surrounded by a swarm of 'flings, to equalise 2-2 in the last turn. Truly the stuff of legend.

  5. I too am a sucker for a good looking Infinity table. The green accents on the buildings are particularly appealing.

    Thanks for sharing :)

  6. Leviathan was smaller this year. I looked at those indian war figs three times and decided I really didn't need them, though they were very tempting. Lucky you.
