40K Lamenters: Suppressors

These are one of the weapon systems of all time. Some sort of anti-grav/ hover tech, mated to a massive automatic weapon. Beaten zone for days!

These have been on my painting desk for ages, and then I lost one of the heads. I recently found it again, and with the impetus to clear some room before AHPC XVI, I finished them off. I used paperclips for the flight stands, drilled into their legs. I got these off eBay without the clear plastic flight stands. The original flight stands were notoriously awful at staying intact. I've had enough problems with my flying nuns*.

* I realised I haven't posted these to the blog, and I'll do that next week.

Snow Golems

I like to do something seasonal for Christmas, and with the mercury well over 30℃ these snow golems were perfect. They're from Nolzur's Magnificent Miniatures, and required minimal prep. My painting technique of white undercoat, Speedpaint 2.0 Battleship Grey, drybrush white really brings out the mouldlines like I intended... I used some sparkly snow effect on the bases held in place with satin varnish, hopefully it holds.

With a repaint, they'd be great for goo or mud monsters of any description. They're decently sized, on 30mm bases.

Merry Christmas, and all the best for 2026!

Grimdark Future: Red Corsairs vs a Knight

Just some photos of our latest game- we pulled out all the stops to have a big battle, that lasted several hours. The main drawcard was the intimidating knight! I was torn between trying to bring it down or ignoring it, and pathetically chose a terrible mixture of the two. I did a lot of damage, but couldn't bring it to its armour-plated knees. There are optional rules for accumulating damage, which I may consider in the future- otherwise a warmachine with one wound left operates at full strength, but a platoon with one guy left is pretty useless.

Stompy robot! With hand-painted markings.

Hordes of cultists. The movement bases are a real time-saver.

The lascannons did a lot of damage.

My elite close combat squad flubbed their moment and got taken out.

The wolves ripped the cultists apart.

The spider chased the wolf up the side of the building.

The spider charged the knight but got squished underfoot.

My commanders scaled the building to attack the knight, but couldn't kill it.

This was our biggest battle yet, and it was a bit of a drain in the evening. But we played it to a satisfying conclusion, and got some big toys out.
