More Russian plans

Another mini-update, about some modern 15mm news which will be of interest to my little Russians. I don't usually relate news here, but hey, why not.

Khurasan previewed their T-90:

And Zvezda has said they're going to have an 'Art of Tactic' series game called 'Hot War'. I'm interested because there's going to be 1:100 plastic T-72s and BTR-80s.

That is all.

  1. I dont know what news is better? T-90 in 15mm or chance to buy T-72, Abrams, Bradley, BTR-80 in plastic with good crisp details and dirt cheap? AWESOME!

    1. Zvezda stuff is good quality. I hope their planned range expands to more vehicles as well (particularly the Russians).

  2. I'm still stuck between 15mm moderns and 20mm. The vehicles are so easy to get and I've been trying to get into Force on Force which really comes across as a 28mm but I think 20mm would be just as good. What sort of game are you looking at in 15?

    1. I'd be using FoF for 15mm games.

I fell for 15mm primarily because of the cross-over with a whole range of SF and film/ popular culture stuff. If I honestly wanted to only do 'historical', then I'd go 20mm. There are some great figures out there, and AFVs etc are so easy to get. 28mm moderns is too big for anything above a section, IMHO. And once you start adding vehicles...

15mm has a nice economy- it looks good on the tabletop, can be painted without taking forever, and scenery doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

FoF was originally a 15mm game. Join me, and together we can game the galaxy...

    2. Mmmmmmm. I think you need to show me the light here. I really struggle to see how FoF translates into a 15mm game as everyone is individually based. Surely it is much too fidly and loses detail at that level

    3. 15mm individually based figures are (IMHO) fine for skirmish gaming. I stand by my comments above! There's been a real 15mm renaissance over the past few years; the range and quality are excellent.

  4. The reviews of the Zvezda T72 are a bit luke warm, I have the QRF one, and it's very nice. The BTR80 is much better however.

I must get some more of my FoF stuff painted up.

    1. The Russian armour looks good, but price will be a factor at this stage.
