Space Hulk- Heavy Weapons

Giving that little extra offensive edge, the Heavy Flamer and Assault Cannon give the marines some iconic firepower.

I had a practice game while these were not fully painted- in desperation, a surrounded Brother Zael immolated himself to try and save the day- and survived! A classic Space Hulk moment.

Heavy Flamer

Everybody's favourite gun- the Assault Cannon. I tried to give a heat bloom effect with graduated pale brown, purple, and blue washes- I didn't want to overdo it and it is a little subtle, but I'll be doing this in the future on other similar weapons.

  1. Fantastic work on the autocannon! The heat effect is spot on and the flamer is lovely too!

  3. Masterful paint work on these Terminators, Barks. They really look the business! Blood Angels have long been my favourite Chapter (ever since I first saw the box cover art of Warhammer 40,000 2nd edition), but I've always struggled with painting red on miniatures.

    1. I don’t think they’re my favourite chapter, but they look suitably striking on the board. I struggle with red as well- Army Painter spray was invaluable.

  4. Great job on all your Space Hulk stuff. I was considering a project for this month, and I remembered I have Space Hulk 3rd edition just sitting on my shelf, but TBH I wasn't seriously considering painting the game anytime soon. Then I stumbled across your post here and I'm sorely tempted.
Inspiring stuff, Barks. Really fine work

    1. Thank you! I was inspired by a blog as well. It has moved them from where they’ve been sitting in my mountain for four years.
