Glorfindel without Asfaloth

As promised, here's my dismounted Glorfindel, painted for the One Ring October Painting Challenge.


This challenge stipulated you had to try non-metallic metal painting (damn!). I'd never really tried it before, and it's fair to say I haven't got the technique down yet. Probably needed more blues than greys on the sword. I shan't be trying it again in a hurry...

Painstaking research leads me to conclude that this is indeed the same Glorfindel who was in the Silmarillion.

    what's "non metallic metal" ???
    if it's not metallic, it can't be metal !!
    If it's something like plastic or resin, the choice of the manufacturer is only GW !! ("finecast" )

      It means painting metal (i.e. the sword) without using metallic paints like silver, but instead using shades of grey. It's a fancy painting style.

    Very nice job. I'm not a bit fan of the NMM method, but I think you have given it a red hot shot!
    Indeed, Glorfindel, has been around from WAYYY back when... Lineage of the FirstBorn and all that... nice to see some LOTR love....

      I'm not a fan either.

      This blog goes through phases- bit of LotR, bit of Blood Bowl, bit of 15mm, bit of- Oooh Shiny!

    I actually feel a little better knowing that you are in fact mortal and NMM makes your head hurt too. The only thing is you actually painted a model using is. I've tried one test case, ran off screaming and have never tried it since. Dam those Rackham bastards for making it look so cool.

    The other thing is, now you have a painted Glorfindel. That's similar to having a pimped out Abrams in the driveway.
