Sci-Fi Superhero and Spirited Sidekick

These Tom Meier sculpts are from Khurasan (look for 'Sci-Fi Superhero and Spirited Sidekick'). Anyway, Allison M. goaded me into getting mine painted- so here they are.

Thoughts while painting:
  • I'm really enjoying painting a few things in high-vis orange.
  • He's got a crowbar tucked into his belt.
  • The finesse of the sculpting is amazing.
  • I'm not entirely happy with her skin colour.
  • I've left the bases extremely bland, for inside and outside use.

  1. Nice work! I haven't seen many paint jobs on the figures so these are very welcome. You got the colours bang-on, which is not as easy as it looks sometimes. I think you should make some headcrabs or other creatures to go with them... I can't sculpt my way out of a paper bag, and I did surprisingly well ;)

I didn't notice the crowbar myself... I figured it was left out to avoid being too close to the copyrighted character. And yes, they are _painfully_ fine sculpts!

  2. Nicely done Barks! Now I feel obliged to dig this Gordon out of the unpainted lead backlog and try to emulate your rendition. It will be tricky though. I bet Allison would make a good stab at it though!

    1. Hey I'm happy with mine. I double dog dare you to paint your set, the more the merrier :D For bonus points, make a more interesting base than I did... looking back, my base is rather boring for the amount of work it took :/

    2. Oops, sorry Allison- I had forgotten you had done these figures already. I've just been back and had another look, and they are handsome indeed! (By the way, sorry to piggy-back on your excellent blog Barks!)

    1. I used a very fluoro orange over a white basecoat, then hit the edges with yellow. That's all!

    1. Thanks, Sam! I was terrified I was going to ruin it when I did the glasses, but they came out OK!

    2. Ha. I f**ked the glasses up at least twice, myself.
